About the Store
The first Jackalope location, the Sante Fe store overflows with a huge variety
of one-of-a-kind home and outdoor furnishings and accessories from India,
Bali, Africa, Thailand, China, Mexico, and more. Guests say it offers the
most fun you’ll ever have shopping!
Adults and children alike are wowed not only by the selection, but by the overall experience. With helpful, energetic staff and renowned artisans on site, the Sante Fe location offers live music every Saturday and Sunday, Memorial Day to Labor Day; a host of live animals roaming free on the property; and two food venues that boast fresh-squeezed lemonade and the best tuna and egg-salad sandwiches in town.
The Santa Fe store grounds are also the home of Darby McQuade, founder of Jackalope. In addition to his unique décor that mirrors the store inventory, Darby’s home plays host to his 150 white homing pigeons, who make their regular rounds above the property. Darby also spends a great deal of time circulating throughout the store and its surroundings, visiting with guests and enjoying the atmosphere.
You’ll also want to check out the ancillary stores on the Jackalope grounds. There’s Xanadu, which features the largest collection of Huichol Indian art in the area, Barbara’s Jewelry, offering jewelry and accessories fashioned from various types of berries, and Tibetan vendors, who sell clothing and jewelry direct from Tibet. There is also a glassblowing studio on the premises that hosts daily live demonstrations as well as a nursery maintained by Jericho Nursery, brimming with beautiful annuals and perennials.
In a nutshell, Jackalope provides an unforgettable adventure in shopping and culture. It truly is a feast for the senses and a Santa Fe hotspot not to be missed.
